I’ve only had my FD RX-7 for less than a year, but I’m so glad I found SakeBomb Garage. Since I’ve started working with them, the car has felt like a completely different beast. They installed long stroke coilovers and replaced all the bushings, and the driving experience is way smoother and more responsive. They also offer a ton of other parts, including wheels inspired by the MS-01, and I can’t recommend them enough. My FD looks so much better with these wheels than the old chromed factory ones. One thing to keep in mind though is they are super busy and sometimes they can forget stuff if you don’t get it in writing. Huge shout out to Heath and Chris for being super helpful whenever I have questions about my RX-7. If you own an FD (or any sports car), do yourself a favor and check them out!

It pains me to write this review as I wanted to like Sakebomb garage for what I thought they were; a reputable Mazda shop for specialty rotaries and Miatas. But in my experience, the service was disappointing to say the least and costed much of my time and headache. When I paid their service rates, I expected expertise. Their products; suspension kits/Ohlins, brake kits, etc. are well produced and I think they are excellent, but after this experience I don’t know if I can trust them or their techs. My first experience with them was with a PPI for my NC Miata, good experience for what it was and I sought to come back. My rear shocks were blown and the experience I had post-PPI led me to consider their line-up of products. I had originally planned to go with Goodwin racing long-strokes but their leadtime was over a 1.5 months. As it was rough on my suspension to keep driving on blown shocks, lead time was important to me. I bought a set of FPX coilovers with the guidance of Health and an ETA of 3-4 weeks. I didn’t get them until more or less a month and a half (march 4th ordered, installed 22nd April). After installation, I noticed 5 things. Missing damper adjusters in the rear, my original order of spring color was missed (even though made explicit with calls with Heath and via email), front driver dust boot improperly installed (not perched correctly), and a metal cluck sound in the rear passenger. I was able to get the adjusters quickly and the spring color, annoying but I can live without. (Chris did offer to replaced but considering how long everything took, I declined) Frankly I just wanted my car up and riding properly, but getting service time to get it checked out was painful. Between my schedule, it had delayed to May 8th and pushed out further again to may 18th due to Sakebomb being overbooked. The noise ended up being because someone didn’t lock down the spring perches. After waiting about 8 hours for diagnosis and an alignment, I left the shop hopeful that my issues are done. Nope, I drove on them for about 30 minutes home going crazy thinking why my rear driver suspension is now making excessive noise. I drove back to the shop only to find out both the rear spring perches weren’t torqued down correctly. Also didn’t help that I was treated with some negativity when I brought up issues again. What I thought would be a simple coilover installation that would save me time and hours huffing PBBlaster, ended up costing me an additional 3 round trips to sakebomb, +8 hours of my time spent loitering in a waiting room, and countless hours trying to self diagnose my suspension issues because of how long it took to get service time booked. 1k for a miata coilover installation is expensive considering other specialty Mazda/JDM shops offered for less, but I followed through due to ‘trust’ and their previous reputation in the community. I appreciate that Chris/Heath tried to make me whole but it took way too long and caused far too much headache. Considering the delay in delivery, booking for installations, multiple issues, and expensive service hour cost for questionable service, I would have just installed it myself with a 6-pack of beer, 4 jack stands, and 8 hours watching youtube (and I’d still come up on top with how much time and money I spent at sakebomb). Today I like my suspension but god bless, I hope I never have to come back for another issue. Also bought unrelated stuff from their online shop that was delayed 3 months and it was shipped to a different shipping address than was listed, which was later resolved but equally fun.

If you own a Miata, this is the place to have your suspension mods installed at. Awesome customer service, willing to stay after hours to allow me to get my car back right away after repair. I’ll definitely come back for suspension or other mods. These guys know what they’re doing.

Absolutely amazing experience at SakeBomb Garage. Huge thank you to Chris, Heath, and Brian. Heath helped me pick a good spring weight for my application when purchasing the Ohlins DFV long stroke coilover kit & Eibach sway bars for my ND2 Miata. Chris and Brian got the car absolutely dialed. Completely transformed the car.
