Rick is awesome. One of a kind guy and the shop is really unique. Best stringer around, no question. His name is on the shop and he takes it seriously, string jobs are always consistent. He’s got a newer machine too. Prices are the best across the board, which is always surprising given the quality. Customer service is great, he really takes care of people and is very generous. He also really knows his stuff. You can ask him anything and he’ll guide you to make the right decision. He really understands the products, so you end up with the right setup every time. And he carries pretty much every variety. I’ve bought a bunch of rackets and boxes of balls from him, and he always has good variety. Always a smooth, pleasant experience. Super reliable. Thanks Rick :)

I stopped by today to get a raquet bag, and ended up buying some socks, a ball basket, and a few cans of balls too. I was pleasantly surprised with the total which was about the same as some of the raquet bags I had looked at online alone. A Google search for 'tennis gear Fremont' returned results first for Big 5 and Dick's, which have a poor selection and are out of business, respectively. I found Rick's World of tennis further down the list. Google could do more to help out independent businesses. Rick and his assistant were both super friendly and welcoming; the exact opposite of some of the gatekeeping attitudes I've encountered in certain cycling and music shops, for example. I told him that I haven't even played yet, I've just been practicing on my own before I start a beginner class, and he was supportive and kind. Nice to actually get to talk with someone with such experience in the sport and 45 years in businesses! I had unfortunately already purchased a raquet and shoes from an online shop, but will be definitely be going here for my gear in the future.

Excellent local business to support. Rick is kind, helpful and donates used equipment to less resourced tennis players around the world. He was very helpful in finding us an ideal racket type and stringing tension. He price matches with tenniswarehouse so please consider this store before a big chain.

I showed up on a Monday and the shop was closed but Rick happened to stop by to pick something up. He mentioned they’ll be open the following day, but ended up taking my order anyway after asking what I was looking for (on his day off!). I went home and stressed out for 2 days because I was certain I ordered the wrong racket (I tried to do the transaction quickly and didn’t even look at the racket since Rick wasn’t even supposed to be working so I wanted to get out quickly). No matter how I crunched the numbers, I was certain it could not be the correct racket since my total after strings and tax was $20 below MSRP of the racket alone. I show up to pick up my racket and it was the right one! I was so confused I had to ask Rick about it and he said he never uplifted his prices after Babolat and other retailers increased their prices after tariffs. I came to support a local shop since it’s rare for high end and in demand rackets to be sold at a discount. I never would’ve thought a small shop could’ve beat these prices. He didn’t even tell me he was giving a discount or anything… people unfamiliar with rackets probably don’t even understand the crazy deal they’re getting. It’s so nice to know that even though Rick can charge MSRP (and it would be a wise business decision to do so), he doesn’t. I’m still reeling and cannot thank Rick enough. He’s honestly such a great guy (I spoke politics with him too) and I hope everyone supports his shop. This experience is honestly exactly why more people should shop local.

Quality rackets and stringing serves at a reasonable price. Love the boss - Rick :)
