This is a fantastic little mission to go to if you have some spare time on the weekends. It's not a very big mission, but the exhibits are well thought out and informational, with plenty of facts and historical data to provide context to the items you're looking at. There is a gift shop on site with plenty of little items to buy to remember your visit here, and there are also bathrooms. The bathrooms were clean, and so was the rest of the facility. There isn't much parking on site, but I had no problem pulling up and getting one of the parking spots on the weekend. There are additional areas to park across the street if necessary. There is a $15 entrance fee to enter into the mission, so that's something to be aware of, especially if you're coming from Europe as there you do not need to pay any entry fee to visit any Catholic site.

If you love California history, then you’ll love Mission San Jose. You can do a self guided tour or walk with a guide. On certain Sundays, the director of music does a talk about the wonderful pipe organ in the church. He also does a demonstration. If you walk with a tour guide, you get to ring the church bells!!The tour can last up 2 hours, but they say 1.5 is the norm.

This is a 200 yr old mission established by Franciscan missionaries. The church appears to be a functioning church operated by folks from the nearby St.Joseph Church. The interiors are extremely well maintained and the decor is exceptionally done. The exhibits showcase the church, native Ohloni culture and the heritage of early settlers. The museum seems to be housed in the original building area - the doors are tiny so watch your head! The church itself is quaint, a bit dark inside but takes you back to the wonderful past in which it’s built. Outside the mission compound enjoy a walk along the mission creek in the little walkway. I went in on a Sunday - there was absolutely not crowded. Great for me, but I wish more people enjoyed a visit to this gem of an attraction.

Visiting Mission San Jose was extra special for me and Gianni since we have a devotion to St. Joseph. It made the experience feel more meaningful than just a regular visit. The whole place is peaceful and simple, which we really appreciated. My favorite part was the statue of Sleeping St. Joseph—it was such a beautiful and quiet moment for me. Definitely a place we’d come back to.

This was beautiful, $15 per person. ❤️ Self-guided tour, so it was confusing. We didn't go to some of the places because the church & school was in session.
