I want to start by saying I highly recommend Island Style Kajukenbo (ISK). I can’t say enough good things about Grandmaster Bob Gomez (GM). Kajukenbo is an exceptional martial art, especially for practical self-defense and street fighting. ISK offers a safe, respectful environment where the art is taught with deep roots connecting to it's foundation, while also adapting to today’s world. Classes are small and intimate, allowing for personalized instruction. Training is enjoyable, but challenging...I always leave class feeling as I've learned something new, and/or improved is some capacity or another. GM is a 9th-degree black belt and a true master; not only of the art but also in teaching and connecting personally with students. I also train with and learn from the higher-ranking black belts at ISK, who are generous with their knowledge, time, and spirit. Among all skill levels, there is a strong sense of respect, encouragement, and a shared commitment to improvement. The rates and fees are very reasonable, perhaps the best value in the entire Bay Area. This is not hyperbole, it's a genuine observation. The more I train and learn at ISK, the more I love Kajukenbo and feel at home in this community.

Grand Master Bob Gomez, an Icon in the Kajukenbo community. I have the honor of being a student of Grand Master Gomez. His knowledge, Patience, understanding of a students abilitys and goals are remarkable. His skills and talent of Kajukenbo is amazing. His extensive resume speaks for itself. GM Gomez has every students respect and admiration. GM Gomez encourages and motivates me to work hard. Provides inspiration and guidence to achive my goals. Leads by example. The way GM Gomez teaches is very clear and practical. He makes sure we understand how our body works. He makes learning fun. The school feels like a real family. So glad I joined.

My son has been a student of professor Bob for a month now and looks forward to training with him every week. Kajukenbo has a beautiful history with outstanding tradition's. I appreciate the effectiveness of professor Bob's teaching methods so my son can understand. Professor Bob is phenomenal and has raised my son's fighting IQ so he can better understand how to defend himself. We plan to stay here for as long as we can.

Island Style Kajukenbo is a Fremont treasure. Professor Bob Gomez is a Hall of Fame Martial Artist and quality man who deeply cares about his students. The martial arts skills and quality philosophy Professor Gomez and his many high ranking guest instructors teach is absolutely top notch.
