Our 2 children have just finished their first year at the German School of Fremont. It was a very rewarding and positive experience for us as well as the kids. They made friends, learned a lot German and of course had fun while doing so. This for me is the most important aspect when I enroll my kids in any sort of program outside of school. If they’re not enjoying it and it feels stressful then it’s a chore to get them to go. But German school was never like this. Every Saturday they looked forward to going and I could really see their confidence grow and they felt proud of what they had learned and accomplished. The school also has a wonderful community feel to it with all the teachers and board members always making themselves accessible to any parent questions or comments. I would absolutely recommend this wonderful school for any children of any age wishing to learn or improve their German.

Our two children have had a wonderful experience at German School of Fremont. They made great progress in German, achieved excellent exam results, and even won awards in competitions. The teachers are dedicated, supportive, and make learning both effective and enjoyable. We highly recommend this school to families looking for a strong and caring German education program.

All three of my kids were enrolled here for many years ever since they were toddlers starting in the Parent and Me Class. It was a positive experience overall until my oldest son at the age of 8 was summarily expelled this past year in a very unprofessional manner with no written warning. I inquired about the details regarding the matter and requested a formal meeting to discuss, but the concerns I raised were dismissively ignored and they refused to even meet once about the situation. Update: I see that GSF has responded below so I will go ahead and add some additional information so the public can have the appropriate context regarding the extremely unprofessional manner with which the situation was handled. My son was summarily expelled via e-mail only, there was never one single formal in person meeting about the concerns they raised in that email many of which were brand new, including serious issues that I was extremely concerned about which had never been communicated to me in any form whatsoever which was very disconcerting to say the least. They had initially agreed to have a formal meeting in person and it was even scheduled for a specific date and time but they ultimately cancelled the meeting altogether and then ceased all communication with me. As I investigated the matter I discovered that my son was actually being bullied by another child, and it seems my son was responding inappropriately. My 8 year old has special needs, he has been formally assessed as profoundly gifted in the 99.9th percentile with his intelligence but he is likely twice exceptional as he has some difficulty with interacting properly in social situations. He has not been formally diagnosed as 2E but when the other child was pulling down his eyelids to taunt him he evidently overreacted. I tried to bring up this specific concern via e-mail and there was a complete and total non response from GSF regarding the bullying that led my son to respond inappropriately. They essentially ignored my questions and concerns and then abruptly cancelled our previously scheduled meeting. They also were very dismissive about making any reasonable accommodations for my son's special needs which is arguably illegal since they are operating out of a public school, my understanding is that they have a legal obligation under Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act to make reasonable accommodations for children with special needs but while I considered pursuing legal action I ultimately decided that I have better ways to spend my time and energy. What they said about providing tuition assistance for the previous year was true and I am grateful for that, and I am glad they quickly refunded the remaining tuition for the year in which my son was summarily expelled via e-mail with no formal meeting to discuss in person. Expelling a student from a school is a very serious escalation typically implemented only after multiple suspensions fail to redress a behavior issue. I myself was violently attacked multiple times in middle school, had my nose broken, and was even once jumped by a gang of students and none of the assailants were ever expelled, but were rather punished with short term suspensions to address their behavior. Nothing my son did even came close to that level of misbehavior and I would have appreciated some formal written documentation of the incidents they claimed occured because what they has told me in person was not at all the same as what was communicated via e-mail which I found very unprofessional. When I expressed concern about the discrepancy between what was told to me in passing about his behavior versus what was claimed in the summary expulsion e-mail my concern was dismissed and not addressed appropriately. In short the way the situation was handled was unprofessional in the extreme and left a very bad taste in my mouth hence the poor review.

Our daughter completed 2 classes in Germany and has attended GSF for 3 years. She loves attending the German school.

We just started this year and have loved the community here. My kids (6 and 8) love coming to school and are actually learning German. I speak Spanish at home so I wasn’t confident teaching them German as well. This program has been great. I wish it was an hour longer!!
