Stopping by the Costco next door first is a must - you can buy $100 worth of Gen BBQ gift cards for $80. Sometimes they’re on sale for $70 even! We came for Friday night dinner, all you can eat for $31 per person. From adding ourselves to the waitlist to being seated, it took around an hour. The beef bulgogi and Gen Signature Yangyum Galbi (the short ribs) were the yummiest. Appetizers are hit and miss. If you come at a popular time, don’t expect super attentive service. If you want water refilled or the grill changed, you’ll have to flag someone down yourself. Our server had amazing timing though, always showing up to take our order for the next round as we were finishing up the current. It seems that having a good experience is highly dependent on getting lucky with a good server. Overall, we left full and content. With how expensive restaurants are now, we felt paying $31 each for all-you-can-eat meat was good value, especially with the extra savings from Costco.

Loved the service by JJ tonight! While he was busy attending to as many tables as possible, he gives clear introduction well about eating here and I love how there’s a physical menu in addition to a virtual one by a QR code, if needed there’s so free WiFi. The menu is pretty extensive with various steaks and pork bellies and even soup! They don’t have much Korean side dishes but that’s alright, the kimchi and cucumbers were fine. You are limited to 2 hours and 4 rounds of meat. However I think an average eater can go up to 3 only. I love the smaller quantities and higher quality meat per rounds as you can pace yourself much better while enjoying your bbq experience! Tables are large enough for at least 6 people! All in this industrial looking environment with neon blue all over and a LED screen that seems way stretched out playing whatever is on ESPN. I also like their extensive alcohol and cocktails they have! Including their own in brand soju! My favorite type of meat to order was the garlic pork bellies and Hawaiian steak! I even loved grilling the pineapple! Flames aren’t as common but if a server sees one, he’ll change it out for you! Each diner gets 3 dipping sauces that is pretty light along with flavored salt. Additional sauces are available like tonaksu that’s very sweet. Each meat takes no more than 5 mins to cook and putting it on the side was easy enough to keep warm! The side areas along the booths are interesting if they’ll ever do some conveyor system or just it’s a maintenance port for the gas grills. Really like this place and they got grills for 1 person to huge parties and everything in between! If I ever see gift card on sale at Costco again, I’ll definitely buy some more! JJ did an amazing job taking care of us despite how busy he became with water rounds and soda refills! Dinner was around $31 per person with an additional $20 if using premium meat which we did not use.

Sadly, Gen Korean BBQ House in Fremont seems to be going downhill. Service and organization have noticeably declined, and management needs to address these ongoing issues. It took over an hour just to get water, while other drinks we ordered never arrived but still appeared on the bill. We had to find the manager ourselves, and that was the reason we received water but never saw manager again and nothing was offered to compensate for poor experience. For the last hour, no meat was served, the grill was never replaced, and we had to get our own chopsticks. This experience ruined the celebration. The reservation system is also confusing. The phone says reservations are for parties of 15+, but staff later said groups of 10 need them. Despite empty tables, service was still extremely slow, and staff admitted they were understaffed. At this point, the experience no longer matches the price. Nearby spots like Hungry Cow offer much better service and consistency

We really enjoy eating at Gen Korean BBQ House. The food & service is quite good. They are on tip of getting your order and changing the grill when it gets chared over. It cost about $32 per person for the dinner menu. One can get a $100 Gen gift card from Costco for $80. The enjoyment of ordering and cooking the meat on the gas grill is a nice way to enjoy each other's company. You can even order premium meat for another $20 per person. We have not checked that out since my wife and I can not eat that much meat. They take four meat order at a time so order quickly, then you will get your monies worth. Make sure you order rice and pickled radish wraps. Also the salads and Chop Chae noodles and tofu soups. Round it out with mochi like dessert that is part of the dinner menu. Watch out, if you are unlucky and end up with the BBQ smoke heading in your direction, you will go home smelling good so do not wear your best outfit. We highly recommended Gens!

Great spot for family and friends- excellent meats and appetizers. The spicy lamb is just awesome. Attentive service; our server probably changed out our grill six times.
