Very poor communication. No one answers the school district phone number, doesn't matter which option you choose. The phone tree takes you to an "operator" that is never there. I've called on various days, various times, during school year, summer, etc. Doesn't seem to matter, because no one answers and no one calls back when you leave a message. We transferred our child to a different school district and completed (with confirmations) enrollment with the other school district/school and when the school year started, FUSD had enrolled my child in FUSD school taking a spot for another child that could have been enrolled on time. Disappointing. We chose to live in Fremont because of the ratings for the school district but the operations of the school district office is very poor.

Frustrated New Parent – Poor Communication from Fremont School District As a new parent trying to enroll my daughter into Transitional Kindergarten (TK), I’m extremely disappointed with the Fremont School District’s complete lack of communication and follow-through. I began reaching out as early as October—well ahead of open enrollment—by phone and email, providing all the necessary documentation. Despite multiple attempts and follow-ups, I received no response for months. It wasn’t until March, after I escalated the issue directly to Patty, that I finally received a reply—two months after the open enrollment window had already opened. By that point, the school I had hoped to get my daughter into was already full. Now, she’s unable to attend—not because I missed a deadline, but because the district failed to respond or provide any support when I needed it most. First impressions are everything, and if this is any indication of how things will be when my daughter actually starts school, it’s incredibly concerning. Families deserve timely communication and a sense of trust in the district—neither of which I received. This experience has been disheartening and has made me rethink what kind of environment I want my child to be in.

I had a very unpleasant experience with the Fremont Unified School District’s admission process. From the beginning, communication was severely lacking. There was no guidance or preparation leading up to the appointment, leaving me uncertain about what to expect. The appointment felt rushed and completely unorganized. The staff, though I won’t name names, was unhelpful and unapproachable, making the entire process even more frustrating. For a district that should prioritize families and students, this level of service is unacceptable. I sincerely hope they improve their communication and professionalism for future families navigating this process.

I am frustrated by the lack of response to my calls and emails from the student support service and the Unified secretary. Since last week, my inquiries have gone unanswered while I see staff enjoying social events. I urge that immediate action be taken to improve communication and customer service, along with training for staff to respond promptly to queries.

I had a terrible experience with the district's admission process. The entire ordeal was unnecessarily stressful and frustrating. The clerk handling our case was incredibly unprofessional—not only did they never respond to our calls, but every week they would ask for an additional document, dragging the process out longer and longer, intentionally at times. What should have been a simple, straightforward process ended up taking 4 weeks just to enroll our kid, something that should have taken no more than 2 hours for someone competent. The lack of communication and inefficiency was beyond unacceptable. I truly expected better from an institution that prides itself on serving the community.
