Worst experience ever! We were refused lab draw when there was no wait & told to schedule an appointment. We scheduled appt, arrived 10 minutes early, was told it would be 15 min wait from scheduled appointment time. A urine test was ordered but we weren't given the specimen cup till after my child had already voided when sitting & waiting 25 minutes in waiting room by the phlebotomist. Don't go unless you absolutely have to. Unfortunately our insurance doesn't cover out of network labs. PAMF has no respect or consideration for its patients time. Would give 0 star if I could!

This was a horrifying and unacceptable experience. My 5-year-old was brutally traumatized at the Fremont location due to sheer incompetence and arrogance. The phlebotomist was clearly untrained: he repeatedly failed to draw blood, didn’t know how many vials were required, and kept stabbing my child’s arm over and over while she cried in pain. This was not a simple mistake — it was grossly negligent. He told us he was experienced when he clearly was not. That lie caused our child unnecessary pain and fear. The supervisor’s response was appalling. Instead of apologizing or fixing the problem, he was dismissive and condescending, even blaming us for choosing Fremont and saying we should have gone to Milpitas because “Fremont has no experienced staff.” How can a medical facility admit to not having qualified personnel and treat patients this way? My daughter, who previously never cried during blood draws, is now terrified and emotionally harmed after two traumatic visits. This is unacceptable for any clinic serving children. The only redeeming moment was the compassionate staff member who finally succeeded — he was skilled and kind, and we are grateful to him. But one competent employee cannot make up for gross negligence and a supervisor who refuses to take responsibility. We demand accountability, a formal apology, and confirmation that Fremont will ensure only properly trained phlebotomists handle pediatric patients. Families deserve safe, competent, and respectful care — not pain, lies, and arrogance.

We had a scheduled blood draw today for our child at Shutter Health Fremont Lab, and unfortunately, this visit was not a positive experience. We’ve visited this location several times in the past for both our child and ourselves and have generally been satisfied. However, today’s experience with the lab assistant, Janice, was disappointing. Janice was noticeably rude and lacked empathy while handling our child. She abruptly stated rules about not allowing phones or food during the blood draw in a very adamant and inflexible manner. In previous visits, we were able to gently distract our child—who naturally cries during these procedures—with a phone or a small treat, which helped ease her anxiety. Today, that wasn’t allowed, and it made the process significantly more distressing for our daughter and difficult for us to witness. While Janice used comforting words like “sorry, baby,” her tone and demeanor did not reflect genuine empathy. The final vial collection seemed especially painful, as her arm was pressed and squeezed in an attempt to draw more blood. When I raised my concerns, the person in charge explained this was standard procedure when blood flow is limited. However, from a parent’s perspective, it was hard to watch—especially knowing our daughter could have been distracted in a way that worked during past visits. What’s even more frustrating is the inconsistency. I was told that although the official policy might not allow phones or food, some lab assistants permit it based on their discretion. That kind of inconsistency is confusing and upsetting for parents, especially when trying to prepare a young child for a procedure. Overall, I sincerely hope that staff—especially those working with young children—receive additional training on empathy and communication. Consistency in policy and compassionate care make all the difference, especially in pediatric settings.

My phlebotomist today 4/5 @7am (forgot her name) was so nice and friendly, beautiful, kind-hearted, & always smiling. She said just started to work Jan this year. Easy to deal with, soft touch, doing my blood works, confirming my name etc. Registration did a great job too assisting me. Im thankful to them

I am deathly afraid of needles, but I have never ever had anybody poke me twice at Sutter, they always get it the first time and it’s always painless. Thank you very much.
