Dr. Espiritu is not our son’s primary pediatrician as his primary doctor was not available, but she is so kind and informative. We’re first time parents and she gave us helpful instructions on how to care for our newborn!

Not even sure how to put this, but in all my years as a patient, working in health care, and as a parent, I have never had such a robotic, strangely limited doctor, devoid of any human softness... which I guess is sadly reflective of the system she operates within. The low star rating is for her specifically though bc she is patronizing and just does not exude any warmth, which, call me crazy, but I'd expect from a kid's doctor. It's also like pulling teeth getting her to respond to a simple question herself as opposed to one of the staff whom we've never met, let alone in a normal, direct way. And again, imagine wanting a doctor with signs of actual humanity... this one is completely unsympathetic, but I can only assume would fake it (badly) if for instance anyone at Sutter cared enough to sit down with her for a teaching moment in this regard. This review is basically a last resort since their patient advocate department literally doesn't exist anymore, or is impossible to reach anyway. Their phone support reps have told me this has been the situation for Iike 2 years now. Any concern must be submitted via online form, which in my case was directed back to the department itself (in this case pediatrics), and the lady who addresses these is ridiculously even less human /more automated than the doctor. She simply repeats the party line, which of course is in defense of her coworker. So yea, Sutter East Bay does not offer any true patient advocacy. It's a dead end, and maybe inconsequential, until someone with a really serious or complicated medical situation is negatively impacted. Hence this review, in case there's even a chance it can make a difference. **update- not sure who can see the response, but it seems Sutter unsurprisingly cares more about its public image than actual patient advocacy bc someone with a dedicated "social" address replied to this negative review. However, when I followed up and emailed her as requested, I was told my concern once again had been looped back to "the relevant team," which I haven’t actually heard from but am assuming is still Pediatrics, LOL.

Dr. Espiritu is very knowledgeable and well qualified. She is primary care doctor for my kids and she has been truly amazing in guiding us patiently as they are growing. My kids are very small and we wanted a doctor who can stay with them through their journey and Dr. Espiritu really fits well in that category. We highly recommend Dr. Espiritu!
