We had a very disappointing and stressful experience with Avis at the Fremont location. the car had serious performance issues during our trip from Fremont to Las Vegas. The car was jerking while driving, the RPM stayed between 4,000–5,000 even on downhill roads, and the engine noise was extremely loud. The fuel consumption was abnormally high — we had to refuel 4–5 times on a single trip. Most concerning was the safety aspect. While driving through remote desert areas, the vehicle felt unstable and unreliable. A hybrid vehicle should not behave this way on highways. It caused significant stress and extended our travel time from 8 hours to nearly 11 hours. As a customer booking through Costco Travel, we expected a properly maintained vehicle and the car we reserved. This experience did not meet basic service or safety standards. We hope management investigates the condition of their fleet and improves vehicle availability and maintenance at this location.

Great Location. No line when I went to pick up. Didnt have to go to one of the airports.. and it was less expensive. Tao the agent was knowledgeable and explained all the costs and advised to use my own Fastrak to save money.

AVIS WARNING: We booked a car at a local Avis in Fremont (94555) for my elderly parents (75 and 90!!) and when they went to pick it up, they arrived to an empty lot with the office blinds drawn and seemed closed. Finally a guy came out to let them know they had no cars. Ok, I get that, sometimes it happens when someone doesn't return a car, BUT this guy shrugged his shoulders and said "don't bother coming back here, we never have cars...they never give us any!" and when they asked for a solution or alternative - he just said, "I've got none, go to the airport!" and just walked away - leaving them in the lot - and locked the door. Telling a 90 year old to go 30+ miles away to get a car?! When I called customer service, I was told they have no choice but to go to an airport and pay the higher amount - they wouldn't even match the price. Unreal!! DO NOT USE AVIS. This is the worst service I've ever encountered. They are still stranded.
