Fremont Unified Students Set New Advanced Placement Records

More than 4,600 Fremont students completed over 12,000 AP exams while maintaining a strong districtwide passing rate.

Fremont Unified School District students achieved record participation in Advanced Placement testing during 2026.

According to the district, 4,625 students completed a combined 12,146 AP exams. Overall, 88.9% of the examinations received passing scores.

The results represent an increase in participation compared with 2025, when fewer students completed AP testing. Students taking more than one advanced course contributed to the total number of exams exceeding the number of individual test-takers.

What are Advanced Placement courses?

Advanced Placement courses allow high-school students to study subjects using college-level material.

At the end of the course, students can take an AP examination. Depending on the student’s score and the policies of the college or university they later attend, an AP result may qualify them for college credit or advanced placement.

Fremont Unified students participate in AP subjects across areas including mathematics, science, English, history, computer science, art, and world languages.

Higher participation gives more Fremont students an opportunity to experience advanced academic work before graduating from high school.

Maintaining an 88.9% passing rate while participation grows also reflects the work of students, teachers, counselors, administrators, and families across the district.

The results are one part of Fremont’s larger education community, which includes schools, tutoring providers, youth programs, libraries, arts organizations, sports programs, and family-owned businesses serving students and parents.
