I am looking for a few items that I can usually get at Michaels. I find this Michaels in Fremont nearby on Google Maps. I almost missed the store until the navigation said I was arriving because the store's signs weren't lit. They turn it on when I leave. I was looking for some picture frames and clear display cases. Unfortunately, the inventory was not available in the sizes I wanted. I have to look it up online and order them to pick them up later. I ended up getting them from Amazon and they will ship to my house in one day.

I really like the Michael's stores. It's a huge store with lots of craft supplies for a variety of crafts for children and adults. They have nice deals/sales too. Things I was disappointed in were: 1. I went to Michael's to look at a sewing machine I was interested in, but even though they sell the machines, they keep the sewing machines in the back and nothing is on display. I was only able to take a "ticket" to checkout to have it rung up. I was super interested in the $50 discount, but being forced to buy sight unseen was not an acceptable option for me. If I wanted to do that I would have ordered it online instead of going into the store. I asked why they did not have them on display, and I was told it was because they kept being stolen. That is easily resolved by a variety of security measures, such as chaining a display model to the shelf with a cable like they do for computers and other electronics in other stores. How much would that cost them versus a lost sale? 2. A few months ago, they carried a large pad of double-sided 12"×12" scrapbook paper, which I loved, but did not have the money for at that time. I went to the store the other day to go pick one out, and they no longer carried the double-sided pads - only single sides with a white back. Another potential sale lost. 3. While I was looking at beads, I kept getting dripped on by a really gross looking pipe on the ceiling. God only knows what was in that pipe, and I was hesitant to ask. They had a wet floor sign to warn of the water on the floor, but this does nothing to warn customers of the dripping from above. I suggested the manager add a sign to warn customers of this. 4. I needed to use the restroom while I was there, and I went into the Handicapped stall since im disabled and almost fell to the floor upon sitting on the toilet and the seat being extremely loose and moving to one side by a lot. This is a safety issue to be sure and worthy of a lawsuit if someone should actually fall or injure themselves in an attempt to prevent themselves from falling. In addition, there were no paper towels. I reported these things to an employee on the way to the checkout. This store would have received 5-stars had it not been for these issues. I considered a 3-star rating, but settled on a 4-star rating since I was able to express my disappointments and report the maintenence issues relatively easy. Staff were definitely easy to locate and everyone was helpful, and this was the saving grace betwern a 3 or 4 star review. I would be willing to reconsider my current rating if I knew these issues were resolved. My next visit will determine this.

On my first visit, I had a great experience with Brian H, who was helpful and provided me with an estimate for a custom framing project. That positive experience is what brought me back. However, when I returned ready to place a few hundred dollar order, I was turned away. I was told the framer was occupied with an in-store children’s event and could not be pulled away, and that the acting manager could not assist with placing the order. I was simply told I would need to come back another day. As someone who has worked in retail management, this was surprising. I had an estimate in hand for one piece and had already selected what I wanted for the second piece in advance online, so this should have been a straightforward order to place. What stood out most was not just the lack of availability, but the lack of concern or effort to offer any alternative or solution. I ended up going to another Michaels location the same day, and the experience there was excellent. The staff was professional, communicative about wait times, and allowed me to begin reviewing options while I waited. The contrast between the two stores was significant. One lost a ready sale due to inflexibility, while another handled the exact same situation with great customer service. Based on this experience, I would recommend confirming framing availability in advance at this location, as I was told in-store that framing could not be accommodated that day and that Sundays are used for events. This is not posted online or in-store. I hope this feedback is helpful in improving the in-store experience.

I should have gave this review months ago but I keep forgetting to actually do it, I also forgot her name for quite some time which is why it took even longer to write this. I just want to give a big thanks to Jennifer. She works at the photo copies section of the store. Back in December I had a last minute present which was the custom mugs. She helped me and even made sure I got a discount. She made sure I had the mugs on time and everything. I believe this was actually on Christmas Eve. Most retail workers are over it and ready to head home but she did all she could to help me being positive the whole time. I also go in to return some packages frequently and sometimes shes quite busy but she always helps me and apologizes for the wait. I hope her team appreciates her shes great and helpful when you need it. Every other worker i've met is okay and seems kinda miserable but she actually makes going to Michael's feel like a breath of fresh air.

I do not recommended this location at all. Unfortunately their staff are super unhelpful. In this economy, everyone would appreciate a coupon of any kind. I was struggling to find one online for their area is literally a dead zone. When I finally found one, the staff said it will not work bc it’s only for online purchases. I was hoping he would offer some coupons but apparently not. Lesson learned, don’t expect anything nowadays.
